Author Presentation: Kao Kalia Yang1 min read

Kao Kalia Yang is the author of “The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir.” The book was selected as the Big Read for Fresno County Public Library. Yang will be giving an author presentation on April 12 at 6 pm at the Fresno City College Old Administration Building Auditorium. The book won the 2009 Minnesota Book Awards in Creative Nonfiction/Memoir and Readers Choice. It was also a finalist for the PEN USA Award in Creative Nonfiction and the Asian Literary Award in Nonfiction.

Her most recent book “The Song Poet” won the 2016 Minnesota Book Award in Creative Nonfiction Memoir and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Chautauqua Prize, a PEN USA Award in Nonfiction and the Dayton’s Literary Peace Prize.

Seng Alex Vang

Seng Alex Vang is a lecturer in the Merritt Writing Program at the University of California, Merced. He is also a lecturer in the Department of Anthropology, Geography & Ethnic studies at California State University, Stanislaus where he teaches courses in Asian American studies.
